Clavichords are some of the most beautiful keyboard instruments ever built — and the most quiet. For many Baroque composers the clavichord was an instrument for practice, improvisation and composition. In performance, its sound can seem shockingly fragile.
In this special event, held in the elegant gallery of a rare books dealer, Beginner’s Ear founder Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim joins the celebrated harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani for a recital of clavichord music by J.S. Bach as well as some of his predecessors and sons. Audiences members are invited to take part in a short mindfulness practice designed to deepen the silence, so that every exquisite note can be heard.
This salon is part of the 92Y’s festival The Bach-Mendelssohn Connection, which runs from June 1-10. For tickets visit 92Y.
